Visions of Independence acknowledges that we are in Treaty 1 territory and that the land on which we gather is the traditional territory of Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and the homeland of the Metis Nation. We respect the Treaties that were made on these territories, we acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past, and we dedicate ourselves to move forward in partnership with Indigenous communities in a spirit of reconciliation and collaboration.

Our Services

“What do you dream about and how can we help you get there?”. What makes VOI unique is a focus on the individual. Our programs are tailored to help each person share his or her unique gifts, find independence, and explore a community of encouragement and support.

There is no “one size fits all” at VOI. We are flexible and adaptable. Each person supported that we serve has the ability to explore their interests, learn new skills, and discover hidden talents. If you can dream it, you can do it, and we are here to help make it happen.

Day & Employment Services

Services designed to meet each individual’s needs

At VOI, we envision a world where all abilities are embraced and valued. Our Day and Employment Services are designed with this in mind. We help adults with intellectual disabilities find what they truly love to do while they find their place in the workforce and the community.

Our services focus on developing life skills to help people navigate pre-employment, employment, and retirement, as well as finding their own unique place in the community. And we have a lot of fun doing it!

Services in Austin, Carman, Portage la Prairie, St. Claude and Winnipeg are tailored to what people really want to learn and experience.

How It Works

We offer a menu of activities to choose from at the beginning of each session. A combination of community outings, on-site workshops, and skills-related classes - each day is always a little different. Our services are flexible and adaptable. We ensure that our services meet the needs and goals of each person and their support network.

A Place in the Community

At VOI, our goal is to ensure that people with intellectual disabilities get the encouragement and support they need to discover their own visions of independence. Finding the right place to call home is such a huge piece of this dream.

Residential Services at VOI encourage people to be active members in their community while ensuring they have control over their freedom, mobility, independence and social roles. We also help parents and families strengthen their relationships with their loved ones while engaging with the community to ensure that every person supported is known by name as wonderful neighbours, friends and co-workers.

Our residential environment offers safety, security, training, care, and above all, a loving home to call your own.

How It Works

With several locations in Austin, Carman, Portage la Prairie, St. Claude and Winnipeg, VOI residences are staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and are each tailored to meet the specific needs of the people who live in the space. Each home supports one to three individuals, and many of these people are also active in our Day and Employment Services.

Independent Living & Respite Services

Residential Supported Independent living

A Vision of Home

At VOI, we celebrate everyone’s independence, and recognize that sometimes people still need a little help to create the home of their own that they’ve always dreamed of. Finding a place where we are safe and can be ourselves is an incredible gift, one that we believe we should all be able to achieve.

Our Supported Independent Living and Respite Services offer support to people in their own homes, either permanently or as needed. In order to feel safe and independent, we help people with day to day activities like shopping, banking, or getting around in the community.

Like all of our services, the people who access our Supported Independent Living Service will find it incredibly flexible. We are focused on ensuring all people realize their independence and find a sense of belonging within their communities.

How It Works

VOI offers Supported Independent Living Services on a case by case basis. If you are interested in exploring these opportunities with us, please contact us to discuss how we can help.
